Puri Beach & Marine Drive | Sunset Views, Street Food & Coastal Life in Odisha

Image
Puri Beach is one of the most vibrant and energetic coastal destinations in eastern India. Located in the historic town of Puri , this beach is known not just for its long stretch of golden sand, but also for its lively atmosphere, cultural significance, and unforgettable sunsets over the Bay of Bengal. The waves at Puri Beach can be rough and the water gets deep in places, so visitors are advised to enjoy the shoreline with caution. That said, the sunsets here are truly breathtaking — as the sun dips into the horizon, the sky transforms into shades of orange, pink, and purple, creating a magical coastal scene. The area around the Marine Drive is always bustling with activity. Cars, motorcycles, pedestrians, and vendors all share the space, giving the beach a constant buzz of life. To make travel easier, hiring a local driver or guide is highly recommended, especially for visitors new to India. One of the highlights of Puri Beach is its lively beachfront scene. Vendors line the shore ...

From here, you can reach two of Switzerland’s most beautiful car-free villages , Wengen and Mürren , both offering breathtaking mountain views and alpine charm. Wengen, Switzerland: Car-Free Alpine Village Above Lauterbrunnen

Image
During our recent Switzerland family trip, we visited yet another car-free village. In my other video, I covered Mürren—today’s blog is all about Wengen . Getting There (Our Route in the Same Order) We based ourselves in Grindelwald and used a rental car for flexibility. From Grindelwald, we drove to Lauterbrunnen , parked at the station parking, and hopped on the train to Wengen . Simple, smooth, and scenic. Quick note: Wengen is car-free . You can’t drive up from the valley. Park in Lauterbrunnen and take the short mountain train. Within the village, there are electric taxis and hotel shuttles to help with luggage or longer walks. The Ride Up: Enjoy the Journey The train ride is part of the experience . As the carriage climbs, the Lauterbrunnen Valley opens like a giant amphitheater—sheer cliffs, waterfalls threading down the rock, green meadows dotted with chalets. Switzerland rewards slow travel: don’t rush to the final stop. Soak in the mountains, valleys, lakes, and fall...

Discovering Mürren: Switzerland’s Car-Free Alpine Gem 🌄

Image
As part of our Switzerland family journey, we set out on a day trip to Mürren, one of the most picturesque car-free villages in the Jungfrau region. Perched high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley at 1,650 meters (5,400 feet), Mürren feels like a world suspended between sky and peaks. How to Reach Mürren 🚠 One of the most unique things about Mürren is that you cannot drive there. The village is completely traffic-free, which adds to its peaceful charm. From our base in Grindelwald, we drove to Lauterbrunnen, parked the car, and then continued by gondola. Another option is to take the train from Grindelwald or Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen and connect with the gondola or cableway + narrow-gauge railway combo. No matter how you arrive, the journey itself is an adventure. First Impressions of the Village 🏡 Walking through Mürren is like stepping into a postcard. Traditional Swiss chalets line the cobbled lanes, their balconies overflowing with bright geraniums. The air is crisp and fres...

A Day in Bern, Switzerland – Clock Tower, Bears & Panoramic Views 🇨🇭

Image
During our family trip to Switzerland in July, we had planned to spend most of our time surrounded by nature—majestic Swiss Alps, sparkling lakes, and breathtaking landscapes. But in between all that natural beauty, we decided to dedicate one day to experience something different: Bern , the capital of Switzerland and a UNESCO World Heritage city. Getting to Bern We drove from Grindelwald to Bern, enjoying the scenic roads along the way. For those who prefer public transport, Bern is extremely well-connected by trains, making it an easy day trip from many parts of Switzerland. Exploring Bern’s Old Town With just a single day in the city, we focused on Bern’s Old Town —a beautifully preserved medieval area recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The cobblestone streets, medieval arcades, and charming corridors were full of life during the day. Locals and tourists filled the streets, browsing shops, enjoying cafés, and soaking in the vibrant energy. We did some light shopping, p...

Grindelwald-First Switzerland – Cliff Walk & Gondola Adventure | Wheelchair Friendly

Image
During our July trip to Switzerland, we experienced the magic of Grindelwald-First , a mountain destination in the heart of the Jungfrau region that blends adventure, scenic beauty, and accessibility. Starting our journey from Grindelwald village , we parked at the Grindelwald Terminal and took the free bus to the gondola station in the city center. The gondola ride itself was a highlight, offering sweeping views of alpine meadows, the valley below, and the towering peaks of the Bernese Oberland. At the top, we were welcomed by a colorful blanket of wildflowers and several options for adventure activities. For thrill-seekers, Grindelwald-First offers the First Flyer zipline , First Glider eagle ride , Mountain Carts , and Trottibikes —perfect for an adrenaline rush. Since we were traveling with accessibility needs, we skipped those but found plenty to enjoy. Our favorites were the First Cliff Walk by Tissot , an exhilarating (yet wheelchair-friendly) walkway perched on the mountain’...

Is Jungfraujoch 🇨🇭- "Top of Europe" Worth It? My July Trip from Grindelwald

Image
Jungfraujoch in July: My Fast, Easy & Unforgettable “Top of Europe” Day from Grindelwald If you’re dreaming of glacier views, crisp mountain air, and that goosebump moment when clouds pull back to reveal the Alps—Jungfraujoch delivers. I visited in July and based myself in Grindelwald , which made getting up there fast and simple. Here’s exactly how I did it, what I loved, and the practical tips I wish someone had handed me before I went. Why Jungfraujoch? They call it the Top of Europe for a reason: sweeping views over the Aletsch Glacier , year-round snow, and a mix of indoor and outdoor experiences that work in any weather. Even on a cloudy day, the reveals can be magical. The Two Routes (and the one I chose) You’ve got two classic ways up: Full Train Route : Traditional mountain trains the whole way. Eiger Express + Short Train (my pick) : A sleek gondola to the high station, then a short cogwheel train through the mountain to the top. Staying in Grindelwald , the ...

Trümmelbach Falls 🇨🇭 – Switzerland’s Hidden Glacier Waterfalls Inside a Mountain

Image
💦 Trümmelbach Falls – A Must-See Summer Stop in the Jungfrau Region 🇨🇭 Recently, in the month of July, during my Switzerland vacation, I visited Trümmelbach Falls in Lauterbrunnen — a truly unique natural wonder where powerful glacier-fed waterfalls thunder through the inside of a mountain. The sensation of hearing and feeling the raw force of the water up close is something I’ll never forget. 📍 Getting There Reaching Trümmelbach Falls is surprisingly easy. From Interlaken , it’s about a 20-minute drive or a short train ride to Lauterbrunnen, followed by a quick local bus to the falls. From Grindelwald , you can drive in around 30–35 minutes, or take the train via Zweilütschinen to Lauterbrunnen, then hop on the same bus. 🎟 Tickets & Accessibility Entry tickets are reasonably priced, but note that the Swiss Half Fare Card is not accepted here. The falls are not wheelchair-friendly . Visitors can either climb the stairs all the way to the top or take a...

Exploring Milan in 2 Days | Duomo Tour, Bike Ride & Magical Navigli Evening

Image
2 Days in Milan: From the Duomo to Navigli Nights After spending time in Genoa, we made our way to Milan , the global capital of fashion, design, and Italian elegance. Our plan was simple: spend 2 days soaking up the city at a relaxed pace. While many visitors rush through Milan, we discovered that giving it time reveals just how much this city has to offer. 🌙 Day 1: Arrival & Exploring by Bike We arrived in Milan late in the evening and kept things easy. After settling into our Airbnb, we rested to recharge for the adventures ahead. The next morning, we discovered one of Milan’s hidden strengths: it’s an incredibly bike‑friendly city 🚴. Renting a bike through the BikeMi app was easy, and within minutes we were cycling through Milan’s well‑marked paths and green parks. The cobblestone streets,...

Genoa, Italy Travel Guide: A Hidden Gem on the Italian Riviera✨

Image
When I first added Genoa to my Italy trip itinerary, I’ll be honest — it wasn’t the star of the show. My plan was simple: spend a night here, then take a day trip to the ever‑famous Cinque Terre . But as travel often reminds us, even the best‑laid plans can take a turn. On the morning I was supposed to head out, Italy was hit with a nationwide train strike . My reserved train was cancelled, and after trying several alternatives without success, I realized Cinque Terre would have to wait. Instead of letting frustration take over, I decided to embrace the change and dedicate my time to exploring Genoa itself . And what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! A City Full of Layers Genoa is often overlooked by travelers rushing to the coastal villages of Liguria, but it truly deserves a spotlight of its own. The city is multi‑layered , perched on hillsides that spill into the Ligurian Sea. Walking here is an adventure: cobbled lanes, stairways, and narrow alleys (known as caruggi ...
