Grindelwald-First Switzerland – Cliff Walk & Gondola Adventure | Wheelchair Friendly
During our July trip to Switzerland, we experienced the magic of Grindelwald-First, a mountain destination in the heart of the Jungfrau region that blends adventure, scenic beauty, and accessibility. Starting our journey from Grindelwald village, we parked at the Grindelwald Terminal and took the free bus to the gondola station in the city center. The gondola ride itself was a highlight, offering sweeping views of alpine meadows, the valley below, and the towering peaks of the Bernese Oberland.
At the top, we were welcomed by a colorful blanket of wildflowers and several options for adventure activities. For thrill-seekers, Grindelwald-First offers the First Flyer zipline, First Glider eagle ride, Mountain Carts, and Trottibikes—perfect for an adrenaline rush. Since we were traveling with accessibility needs, we skipped those but found plenty to enjoy.
Our favorites were the First Cliff Walk by Tissot, an exhilarating (yet wheelchair-friendly) walkway perched on the mountain’s edge, and the First View platform, where we captured some of the most stunning photos of the Alps. While many visitors hike to Lake Bachalpsee, we decided to simply enjoy the accessible trails and viewpoints.
Grindelwald-First proved to be an unforgettable alpine experience—combining breathtaking landscapes, family-friendly activities, and options for every type of traveler. Whether you’re seeking adventure or panoramic tranquility, this mountain escape is a must-visit on any Switzerland itinerary.
